PhD in Supply Chain Management
The 180 ECTS credits PhD in Supply Chain Management program aims to provide business students, managers, practitioners, and leaders with advanced knowledge, research, and analytical skills that they can apply to solve complex business problems. Unlike master's programs, the PhD program emphasizes the practical application of theory to real-world business challenges. Students are expected to undergo a transformative learning process that enhances their research skills, enabling them to approach business situations with a different perspective and a focus on applying research methods to find solutions that promote organizational efficiency, growth, and long-term sustainability.
The program is designed to be both flexible and rigorous, and it can be completed entirely online. Students have the freedom to set their own pace for completing the program. The duration of the program varies depending on the pathway the student selects (Coursework vs Research). While most students are expected to obtain the qualification within three years of enrolling, the research pathway may lead to a qualification in less than three years.
The MSBM PhD in Supply Chain Management program emphasizes applied research to enable executives, managers, and practitioners to apply what they learn in real-time in their organizations. The curriculum ensures that students acquire advanced knowledge and expertise in all business and supply chain management aspects. Coursework focuses on developing research, writing, presentation, critical and analytical thinking, and change management skills.
Upon completing the program, students can apply research methodologies to study business situations and solve business challenges. They will be able to conduct primary and secondary research to understand business challenges and apply a deep understanding of business and supply chain management fundamentals and practices to predict outcomes.
Additionally, students will develop advanced proficiency in business communication, articulating complex ideas, strategies, plans, and tactics clearly and effectively. They will also be able to create meaningful reports using data collection, cleaning, interpretation, and visualization. Students will engage in academic and professional research activities that may lead to publications in peer-reviewed journals and develop high-level proficiency in applying robust research methodologies, study design, and study conduct to produce a thesis as part of the requirement for the conferring of the doctorate qualification.
The MSBM PhD program offers both a coursework-based and research-based pathway for completion.
